Harry Kemp Dune Shack

Provincetown, Massachusetts

A collaboration with photographer Joanna Maclennan for her first book, dedicated to unique homes built with foraged elements.

LOCATION / Tucked in the Peaked Hill Bars Historic District at the tip of Cape Cod, a breath away from the Atlantic ocean

THE STORY / Harry Kemp was known as ‘‘The poet of the dunes’’. His off grid dune shack is the oldest and most rustic structure of the few left on the National Seashore, yet preserved with diligence by the Tasha’s family since Sunny Tasha received its care in 1960’.

A year around shelter for Harry, I have been fortunate to retreat there regularly, for the last decade, bathing in the seascapes unique to the Cape, the sound of the wind, & the fierce elements.
